ABOUT FLORES

Ilha das Flores has a surface area of ​​143.11 km2, which is divided into two municipalities, with the municipality of Santa Cruz das Flores having a total area of ​​72.11 km2, located at 39º 27' north latitude and 31º 08' west longitude and is bounded to the south by the municipality of Lajes das Flores and to the north, east and west by the Atlantic Ocean.

The municipality of Santa Cruz das Flores is located in the northern part of the Island of Flores, in the Western group of the Azores Archipelago and is made up of four parishes, namely: Ponta Delgada, Cedros (which includes the place of Ponta Ruiva), Santa Cruz das Flores (where Santa Cruz, Monte, Ribeira dos Barqueiros and Boavista are included) and Caveira.

On this island, the westernmost of the Azores, 3429 people live (according to the 2021 Census), so the existing community spirit is greatly enhanced, where everyone knows each other and dialogues.

Given the proximity between the various places, there is a good quality of life, allowing the more adventurous to go on a trail through nature or the more relaxed ones, who like to enjoy the view of the sea while having lunch. In summer, it is also possible to go for a swim in the Santa Cruz area, in one of the four natural bathing areas available in the village of Santa Cruz.

In Santa Cruz das Flores, canyoning is also practiced, with several equipped routes and different levels of difficulty, spearfishing and diving, allowing an excellent contact with nature and the sea.
